Can you trust everything that comes to your phone?

Have you received a message with a link from somebody or the bank? If you have, you would be wondering why they would need you to see the link or to update your details. This could be a hoax text and the link could be affected with malware, malware link is quite rather regular as a way for someone to access or infect your device and this could hurt your business. Malware is a type of cyberattack and malware attacks would target business in Singapore as our data are online or databases

There are different ways malware could be transferred to your device and here are some of the ways they access your device:

Downloading affected apps

When getting apps, normally you would use the official app store or play store but for android users, there times you would get pirated apps from websites. Most of the time the pirated apps online may not be safe as it could have malware infected inside the app.

Mobile device with vulnerable operating system

When your device is not updated, it would affect your security and vulnerabilities as every update there would be patches to fix the issue on your phone.

This is why it’s important to have regular updates on your device.

Receiving text message

Receiving text messages from strangers or legitimate source may not be safe as something they would want to have your credit card details by accessing unsecured website or say that they are from the bank on a text message it could lead you to giving the information.

It’s important to check or verify by calling your bank and never give your personal information through text. If receive a text message you don’t know who, don’t reply as it could be a form of phishing.
